Frequently Asked Questions

First, you can check the “how many liters of antifouling paint do I need” page to determine the required amount of paint. For good results in a single season, we recommend at least 2 uniform coats. If you can measure paint film thickness, each coat of 100 microns wet film corresponds to approximately 50 microns dry film. As a result, we recommend applying a minimum of 2 coats, with a total of 200 microns wet (100 microns dry).
You can launch the boat 18–24 hours after application at 23°C.
Antifouling paints are designed with an optimal resin and biocide combination. Adding different substances may negatively affect the performance of the paint.
Yes, you can use thinner for paints with a high viscosity. However, make sure that the entire mixture is applied to the surface.
If the condition of the underwater paint is not good, we recommend applying a primer (Moravia Silver) after surface cleaning.
Polyurethane paints can be affected by high humidity in the air which may cause loss of gloss. Therefore, avoid painting in early mornings or late evenings when humidity and dew levels are high.
For the best result, using sandpaper is recommended before applying paint after putty application.
The surface should be cleaned from dirt, oil and other contaminants by suitable cleaning tools. Loose paint layers must be removed and sanding should be done where needed.
The correct type of thinner required for each paint is specified on the product labels and technical data sheets. Using the wrong thinner may cause de-homogenization, loss of gloss, loss of adhesion or surface defects.
1K products are single-component, while 2K products are two-component paints. Two-component paints cure with the help of a hardener through a chemical reaction.
The filling amounts of Moravia 2K products are calculated according to the mixing ratios. In case of partial mixing, you must obey the mix ratios. Incorrect hardener amounts can make the paint sticky or too brittle, negatively affecting performance. Always follow the ratios.
For 2K products, pot life is the time after mixing paint and hardener during which the paint remains usable in the pot. After this time, the paint becomes unusable and must not be applied.
Epoxy paints are generally not resistant to sunlight. When exposed directly to UV rays, cosmetic defects such as chalking, whitening, and color fading can occur. Therefore, they are not recommended as a topcoat for outer parts of the boat. We recommend MORAGLOSS Synthetic topcoat for 1K systems and MORAGEL Polyurethane topcoat for 2K systems.
Moragel is a high-gloss topcoat. If desired, polishing can be done after application.
